‘Songs of My Heart: The Mega Birthday Concert’ premieres tonight

The Songs of My Heart: The Mega Birthday Concert held last Friday, January 9, at the Araneta Coliseum will premiere tonight, January 11, on ABS-CBN. The concert is Sharon Cuneta’s way of thanking her loyal fans who made her 30 years in showbiz a big success. The brightest stars in the industry also made Sharon’s birthday party more fun and memorable with their spectacular production numbers.

The Megastar opened up the show by singing her hits “Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas” and “Bituing Walang Ningning.” Then the party went into high gear with Rihanna’s “Please Don’t Stop The Music.” Sharon was later joined by Bayani Agbayani and Edu Manzano who co-hosted the show and introduced the other celebrity guests.

The Megastar welcomed singing champions Erik Santos, Christian Bautista, Rachelle Ann Go, Mark Bautista, and Sarah Geronimo for a love song medley. Pupil vocalist Ely Buendia and Journey front man Arnel Pineda also had their duets with the Megastar. Sharon also reminisced about The Sharon Cuneta Show through an ‘80s hits medley where she was joined by Roderick Paulate, Ciara Sotto, Makisig Morales, Jayson Gainza, John Prats, Kim Chiu, Jake Cuenca, Sam Milby, and other guests. Rey Valera, Sharon’s favorite songwriter, sent his birthday wish for the Megastar via video. Sharon then sang the classic Valera compositions with Kuh Ledesma, ZsaZsa Padilla, Gino Padilla, Vina Morales, and Lorna Tolentino.

In the audience were ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio and Sharon’s husband Senator Kiko Pangilinan and their daughters Frankie and Miel. Mega’s good friends in the industry who weren’t able to be at the concert sent their birthday wishes via video, like Gov. Vilma Santos, Judy Ann Santos, Willie Revillame, and Christopher De Leon. But what made people scream wildly was the surprise message from Gabby Concepcion who wished Sharon more success and happiness. Other guests of the night included Chokoleit, Pooh, Candy Pangilinan, Pokwang, Vhong Navarro, Rayver Cruz, Shaina Magdayao, Maja Salvador, Enchong Dee, The Coverboys, Gary and Gab Valenciano, Ai-Ai de las Alas, and Piolo Pascual. The concert closed with a spectacular number by Sharon with her eldest daughter KC Concepcion in a dance number of “Disturbia.”

All these highlights and more in Songs of My Heart: The Mega Birthday Concert premiering tonight right after Rated K.
